Few ideas of cottage and house perspectives designed by our architects for some of our foreign based customers in addition to an exhibition house to be viewed by home buyers to better understand wood frame constructions and verify the quality of material used therein such as the dressed dimensional wood elements used for both bearing and non-bearing walls, ceiling joists, roof rafters as well as finished components such as  doors, windows and shutters, interior wall and  ceiling linings;  flooring as well as roofing materials.

<< Method of Construction >>

The structural framing of a wood frame construction, on concrete foundation on grade,  consist of vertical studwork, horizontal rails and plates, ceiling joists, roof rafters and metal hardware.  All walls including the ceiling and roof are then braced with Oriented Strand Board “OSB”, a structural board that is engineered for superior construction strength.

The stud wall cavities contain thermal insulation with their internal faces dry-lined with plasterboard or other finished decorative material.  Vapor control layers and breather membranes are also utilized in sub-floor, exterior walls and the roof to prevent condensation.

Once the wood framing and “OSB sheathing is complete, electrical and plumbing first fix installations are carried out concealed  inside the walls in  accordance with plans followed by exterior and interior wall finishing in either  wood or non-wood material.

The following photos taken in Apsiou village in Cyprus feature the construction method that is normally carried out starting with the material delivery from the factory hall in Mtein to the building site and erection thereof by our crew of carpenters.

<< SIP Houses >>

"SIP" or Structural Insulated Panels" is an advanced modular building system where factory standardized finished wall panels having a width of 1.20M, two or three parts thereof ie.0.60/0.40M as wells as roof trusses play the leading role in quickly erecting your dream house in low budgets.

Whether you may like to see the facing of the exterior walls finished in texture paint or brick veneer or, a combination thereof, the SIP building system with their finished inner wall lining offer the same strength, longevity and energy efficiency as those of timber frame built houses.

SIP buildings, when offered in relatively small sizes, in single floor and in kit form, allow any person in need of quick accommodation to erect the unit on do-it-yourself basis with limited carpentry hand tools and hardware. The adjacent picture shows how the facade of SIP
house may look like when finished with exterior texture paint, clay or high resistance Bituminuous Roof Tiles.
